Ken Thongpila
I am an Australian-Thai, living and working in Sydney. I have been featured in diving magazines and websites and have won awards for my Underwater Photography. I also judges local and international photo competitions and shootouts.

I have been scuba diving and taking photographs underwater as my hobby since 2003. My passion is Macro Photography and my favourite critter is the Nudibranch.

In September 2011, I created the Underwater Macro Photographers (UWMP) Facebook Group which quickly became popular with the underwater photography community and has more than 37,000 members from all over the world. The aim of the group is “Sharing, learning and inspiring each other”. The group shares information, ideas and tips on how to take better macro photos.

Along with managing the Facebook group, I also produce and edit the UWMP eMag, a regular online magazine which provides members with tips and techniques for capturing stunning photos of small exotic marine life. From more than 1,000 photo entries each month, a top 10 is selected for DSLR and compact camera categories and showcased in the magazine.

I use a Canon 7D Mark II with Nauticam Housing, INON Z240 Strobes, RGBlue System 02s with remote control, Canon 100mm Macro L Lens, Canon 60mm Macro Lens, Sigma 10-20mm Lens Sigma 17-70mm Macro Lens, Tokina 11-17mm Fisheye, Kenko 1.4 Teleconverter, Diopters (Aquako III and IV, INON +6, Nauticam SMC and Multitier, Saga +5,+10,+15 and Subsee +5, +10) and RGBlue Snoot for my Underwater Photography.

I have been diving in Australia (Queensland - Great Barrier Reef, Sunshine Coast and Yongala. NSW - Byron Bay, Lord Howe Island, Nelson Bay, South West Rocks and Sydney. South Australia – Rapid Bay Jetty and Edithburgh Jetty. Victoria - Port Phillip Bay. Western Australia - Rottnest Island)

I have also been diving Overseas in Belgium (Nemo 33 the deepest pool), Indonesia (Bali, Lembeh and Raja Ampat), Norfolk Island, Fiji, Hawaii, Malaysia (Sipadan, Mabul and Kapalai Island), Papua New Guinea (Kavieng), Philippines (Sogod Bay, Malapascua Island, Anilao, Oslob and Dauin), Thailand (North and South Andaman), Switzerland (Fresh Water Lake), Vanuatu (Hideaway Island and SS President Coolidge). My favourite destination for macro photography is Anilao, Philippines.
